| Birmingham luxury hotelsThey say a picture tells a thousand words, which is just as well as I don't want to bore you with overstuffed detail. The house is now furnished and ready for guests, but we have blended traditional Georgian style with more modern lack of clutter. The hall, into which we erected a new open staircase reaching from the hall up through three stories, is painted a bold crimson. Off the main hall are two doors leading into the drawing room and dining room. The drawing room took its inspiration from the Charters Old Gold curtains and is now called the Blue Room on occasion. Blue and gold dominate the room, with ragged walls and a full chesterfield suite in dark blue leather. Very comfortable. Scheveningen TipsThe drawing room is painted in Grass Green. In fact, all the paint was provided by MRCB in Dublin, using the Dulex Trade Heritage Colours. From the Crimson in the hall, to the Picture Gallery Red in the back hall, the deep colours are warm and welcoming. The original floor boards have been sanded and polished up and they look great. The old fireplace in the dining room has been restored and takes pride of place again. The night time dining experience is a relaxing as the chandellers are dimmed to soft, and the clock on the wall dongs its hourly call. We call this the bridal suite - complete with golden cast iron slipper bath in the middle of the bedroom. The old shutters are still capable of closing and the new velux window is fitted with a blackout shade. The iron bed is very comfortable - in fact all beds have orthopedic mattresses - and faces the ensuite for the shyer bather! This four poster room is typical of the quality of accommodation that you can expect. At night, the magnificent curtains are pulled to give the room a regal air, while during the day, guests can enjoy views to across to Mount Leinster. |
